Tom Gorke is Managing Director, M&E Content Partnerships here at Google. In this role, which he began in July of 2021, he leads a team that partners with media and entertainment companies across Google's Platforms and Ecosystems division. His team's goal is to support the launch and expansion of partners' global direct-to-consumer businesses across the Android ecosystem, including Play, Google TV and other platforms.
Prior to joining Google, Tom spent over 14 years at Viacom in a variety of leadership roles.Most recently, he was EVP and Head of Distribution and Business Development, a role to which he was appointed by CEO Bob Bakish in December, 2016. In this role, Tom reported to Bakish and was responsible for leading distribution of Viacom content and digital products across three primary areas: traditional television operators, SVOD licensing, and tech and social platforms. He led a cross functional team that included deal negotiations, partner marketing, strategy, new business, finance and legal, and which generated close to $4BN in annual revenue.
Prior to that role, Tom led Viacom's Digital Distribution group, a role in which he negotiated Viacom's first digital content deals with Netflix, Apple, Microsoft, Google, Hulu and many others, and which he scaled into a material revenue-generating business. He originally joined Viacom in 2005 in a digital business development role spanning across digital music, games and mobile content. Before joining Viacom in 2005, Tom was Manager of Strategy and Investments for the CBS Internet Group, where he helped lead the origination, analysis and management of a portfolio of investments in internet companies. He began his career at investment bank Alex. Brown as a financial analyst in the Consumer Group.
